Snot, snot & more snot

My little guy is snoring away. He never snores! He is so stuffy, high fever, ear infection, raspy breathing and just plain icky. He's on drugs but due to the amount of mucus he's got going he's regurgitated 2 of the 4 doses he's been given over the last 2 days. My hope is he takes a turn for the better so we can all go out and enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

Completely Bummed

I was suppose to leave for NY today for a fantastic weekend of fun, friends, great weather, parties, pedis, pizza, no kids, no husband... oh the list goes on. However, the Sharp Clan has been stricken with the flu bug.
It started with nasty colds last weekend, then Evan had some vomit in his crib Sunday morning... then some blowouts during the week, then vomit again on Wednesday morning. However I decided to still move forward with the trip... then on my way to taking the kids to my folks Ry vomited all over herself, carseat, my car, etc. So after careful thought I have opted out of my fun filled weekend.
I am so bummed, but mommy-hood calls once again!!!

It's Alive

Okay, well I'm alive! It's been forever and a day since I posted which is unusual considering my recent steady stream. If you follow me on FB then you know I was on death's door last week (or at least the all mighty stomach viruses door). He came knocking then just charged through the Sharp household last week and it was bad...
Last week was suppose to be a week of celebration and reflecting on my baby boy and his first year but that wasn't how it turned out. Tuesday we went off and got pictures done then Wednesday I wasn't feeling so spiffy. Rarely do I lie on the couch almost an entire day but that is where I stayed. It's a little difficult when little ones are tugging at you begging you to come play on the floor and I tried my best but it was hard. Thursday morning came and so did everything I ingested the evening before (which wasn't much). The call had to be made to my sidekick to come over & watch the kids (my mom). Glenn stuck around for part of the morning before he had to take off for training so I was left to watch the kids for 20 minutes. It was a tough one but I made it till my 3rd in command could take over. Then off to bed for me. The next day my mom came again and spent a chunk of the afternoon with us so I could rest up for what was to come.
Friday night, Ry got the same stomach bug which had plagued me. I was still a little under but my supermommy cape got dusted off and I held a puking child for 24+ hours. She was good through it all and slept in between bouts of vomit. Thank goodness. I also did massive amounts of puke laundry...her linens (twice over), my linens (yes I laid her in my bed at one point), blankets and towels from the couch... all the while watching heaps of regular laundry piling up. So this week has been major catch up and clean up. I still feel way far behind but with a sitter coming Saturday night it will light my fire to get cracking!
Let this be the only stomach bug for 2009!

Everything's coming out cream

Alright I am so tired of being sick. I have been sick almost the entire time since my return from Texas! I had 4 days off of feeling back to myself and I get hit again with this awful cold, flu bug deal. My ears hurt, my sinuses are full and I've got a nice cough to boot! WHY?!?
I know the why, I live with Germ 1 & 2. They are cute and all but I am considering shipping them out of here until the thaw of spring. Isn't there a place where the little germs can run around, play in the sunshine, wipe their noses on something other than my shoulder and sleep through the night? If you're willing to adopt my germs for a short period...say till May let me know. They don't eat much. As you know Germ 2 is fine with Cheerios. Germ 1 loves the all dairy diet: cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs and sticks of butter. She does like the occasional gold fish cracker, her brother's puffs, PBJ, pasta (no sauce as we need to be like our older cousin) and anything else from the grain family. And if she's having a good day she will eat fruit (bananas, grapes, apples, raspberries, blueberries but no peaches). But don't buy one of those fruit items because it will surely go bad because that isn't the fruit she wants that week. And if you ask her what fruit she wants she will lie and it will go bad. They don't clean after themselves unless you make a big to do game over the whole thing. Germ 1 doesn't mind using a tissue but finds her finger easier. Germ 2 hates tissues and will knock you out with his head swinging. They both love to sleep but Germ 2 will only nap if a princess movie is on or if she is being driven around in circles. Make it a big circle because she usually can figure out where she is and it sometimes takes a bit of time. She will ask where you're going so tell her no place special and you just need to look at something (but don't tell her it's her eyelids closing you're looking for). So any takers on the Germs?

HOME

We're home. Here are the stats for those of you who may not know yet...

Baby Boy
Name: Evan Reid
Delivered at 10:49 am
7 lbs. 5 oz / 19.2 inches

We're doing great. I feel fab and Evan is a terrific sleeper and eater. Ryleigh is still at her grandparents and will be until this horrible bug is gone. She went to the doctor's yesterday because it was still raging and my mom was getting very concerned. Glenn met them at the doctor's and she has a viral infection that is running it's course. They got some advice on how to try to get meds into her and liquids (milkshakes!!!). Today she seems to be on the mend I can finally report. However she will be staying at my parents until she has been fever free for at least 24 hours. So hopefully she will be able to join us on Friday but most likely it will be Saturday. I can't wait to see her. I miss her and I want some photos with her and her brother.

I will post a photo or two soon... I just need to upload them but I have some other pressing things like nursing to go do...and shower... and maybe a nap. Till then, thanks for your prayers and good thoughts. I got them because this was the easiest delivery and I feel great & Evan is beautiful and doing super!!!!

Tonsillitis

Ryleigh is following in her mom's footsteps (dad's too). She has tonsillitis AGAIN! This is her third time in 2.5 months. It looks like an ENT will be in her future and possible removal of those pesky things.

Update time...

Nothing like re-discovering your Halloween costume when you're under the weather!

Alright I've been sick. I had about 2 days of feeling good and now I have a sore throat, ear hurts, achy body, and sinus thingy. Needless to say, I am sick of being sick. All that said life must move forward especially with baby sharp 2 coming soon.
I had my doc appt on Monday and here is the 411. I am 1 centimeter dilated, 80% effaced and -1. I know the -1 deals with where the baby is positioned but I couldn't remember if the negative number was the higher and positive was lower or vise versa. I tried looking it up in my "What to Expect When Expecting" and I couldn't find it. Anyway, they don't think I will make it to my March 11th due date. I am a bit nervous b/c I was induced with Ryleigh so I am a bit of a newbie at labor just happening at home, in the grocery store or wherever. Also they don't think it will take me 10 hours (like it did with Ryleigh). I could have told them that. If this kid doesn't slide right out I will be shocked.
Ryleigh had her last gymnastic class on Tuesday. We opted not to sign her up for a 2nd session. She liked it but with baby #2 coming and not being allowed to bring baby 2 to class to sit in a car carrier seat there is no point. I suspect I will be putting Ryleigh into a gymnastics class this summer. I just need to investigate options.
In other news, Ryleigh moved to her big girl bed last night. She fell asleep without a hitch but woke up at 4:00 am. Our suspicion is that she was hunger (she had not had a good dinner) or the newspaper delivery woke her up. Either way, I attempted my best to get her to go back down but gave up at 5 and handed the torch to Glenn. He took her downstairs, fed her and she fell back to sleep till I woke her at 8 am (on the couch with Glenn). I was just thankful he was here because I really was not feeling well and had not slept much last night.
Also we had our Moms Day Out program today and I was able to sign Ryleigh and Baby #2 up for next fall!!!! This is fantastic news for me. I will have a break once a week to attempt to get some things done. Ryleigh will also start preschool in January 2009 for a young three's in Worthington. She will be a busy camper but I think it will be good for her.
So that is it. I've posted some pics (because I haven't posted any in forever!!!).

Ryleigh paying attention to Coach Mike (notice she's the only one sitting and listening). It cracks me up. She was like this for all the classes.

Hanging out at gymnastics with dad

A pregnant shot of me.

Big girl bed (yes the furniture still isn't here). We're working with what we have. The mattress and box spring came yesterday afternoon.

To Hell & Back

I will make this short (I hope)....
I got Ryleigh's stomach bug on Tuesday. It was the worse stomach virus I've had ever. It was worse than the one a couple of months ago. Both ends, non-stop for 12 hours. My mom had come over in the morning to help with Ryleigh because she got sick again and I wanted to be able to shower. I was feeling pretty good. That all took a turn for the worse about noon. By 12:30 I had called Glenn to tell him to get his bottom home because I was going down a slippery slope. He complied with no complaints (thank goodness).
I stayed in my lair most of the day. My mom's plan was to leave at 3:30 but when she came knocking on my bedroom door I had to run and hurl. I think then, she realized I was down for the count and was incapable of taking care of Ryleigh. I've never experienced such gut wrenching pain on a constant level. I never slept in between bouts of sickness because I was in so much pain. Glenn made it home by 8 pm and my mom went back home. Poor gal, never thought she was going to be here all day (and of course she got struck with the bug on Wednesday).
I am starting to recover. I am exhausted and spend most of the time sleeping but I am keeping things down. Today was my first official day of eating but it's been very small amounts. I am just weak. Ry seems to be on the mend and Glenn seems to be surviving. I am trying to accomplish some laundry and de-germ our our home in between naps. It will be a long process but I am hoping by Monday I am back on my feet (as well as my entire family).
So there you have it. A 9 month pregnant woman's nightmare...

Update...

Oh boy Oh boy... it's been fun. The rest of the day was lazy yesterday and I got her down before 9 pm. I got myself to bed early too (right after the Super Bowl - GO GIANTS!!!! - sorry Mer had to put that in).
About 12:30 am I heard Ryleigh crying. I went in.... and was hit with the smell and her coughing. I realized she got sick so I grabbed her to throw her over the toilet. I got her cleaned up and changed and into my bed while I assessed the situation in her crib. OH MY that was gross and we're down a feather pillow (unless someone has thoughts on how I can get that clean).
The cleanup took some time (Glenn left yesterday morning so no reinforcements). Before it was complete she started again... nothing got on my bed (the very important thing!). I cleaned her up and then slipped her into her crib after she calmed down. Then we had one small dry heave. Got that taken care of, her relaxed again and back in the crib. All was done by 2:45. Afterward I laid and prayed. I prayed that the smell of strawberry yogurt wouldn't make me sick, the Ry wouldn't get sick again so I could get some sleep... you know selfish things that God would surely respond to ASAP. I would like to report he did. Ryleigh slept through the night and I didn't get sick and actually slept till 7:30!
Made a doc appointment for all of those wondering. Won't be till this afternoon during her nap (yup, get to get her up). I stretched the truth to get her in... I said she was poking her ears so I was concerned about an ear infection (which she has done a little but I am not all that worried about it). Girls got to do what a girls got to do though. Whatever little bug Ry has she is having a hard time fighting it. I am a very pregnant woman who needs some reassurance since the DH is out of town (big shock!). Hopefully it's nothing much. My mom is on her way this morning to help me. At least I can shower and attempt to clean some more. Okay rambling...

The fall is here

And the reason I know this... my daughter has her first cold of the season. Yup, can't go too many weeks without a sick one. Her nose ran like a faucet today and I can hear her snoring in her room as I write. Probably will be up at some point to snuggle with me and share her snot and germs. Good thing Glenn is out of town otherwise the bed could get a bit squishy with the three of us. I am hoping the cold is a quick one. I want to be able to send her to Moms Day Out on Wednesday and she has a birthday party to go to on Friday.
