Getting fat

Evan's 2 month appointment is on Friday but I had a chance to weigh him (my friend has a scale that I borrowed). He was 12.5 lbs. as of last week (7 weeks old). What a beast!

She's a fish

She started swim lessons again and is loving it! Glenn was able to take her to her first class. The times he isn't in town I will take her and my mom gets to have some 1 on 1 time with Evan (a win win situation). I got to enjoy her class with her this week. She is pretty funny and has no fear of the water.

She's having a baby!

My cousin is having her first baby in June. I went to her baby shower a week & half ago. The shower was near Toledo so we had a 2 1/2 hour drive. My mom and I drove up with Evan and left Ryleigh with my dad. It was a nice trip although exhausting because I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before.
Ryleigh had a blast with her grandpa. He took her to the park in the morning and took her for Graeter's Ice Cream after her nap! He then prepared her favorite meal for dinner...spaghetti and meatballs.
Evan slept the entire car ride up and we had only one hiccup on the way back. We had to stop in Perrysburg for about 1/2 hour to nurse. It wasn't so bad though. My mom and I played 30 second mysteries.

The upside of being awake in the middle of the night

I got to feel my first earthquake. I had just finishing feeding Evan and he was back to sleep and I was laying in bed trying to relax so I could get a few more winks. Then I felt it. Just a slight movement of the bed. I thought I was imagining it, it was so slight. Then I thought I felt a pause and it did it again. Then it dawned on me... I think we're having an earthquake. I was starting to panic...why you may ask? Two reasons...this was my first earthquake or I've become so sleep deprived that my mind is imagining that I am feeling shaking and wouldn't that require me to go under the care of a doctor.
Once I woke up I completely forgot about the whole thing. Glenn asked me this afternoon on the phone if I felt something last night. I started to laugh and said YES...DID WE HAVE AN EARTHQUAKE???!!!?!?! And we did. I am so relieved. I wasn't going mad in the wee hours of the morning!

Visit to the in-laws

Is officially in the works. We booked the tickets, hotel...only thing left is the rental car (either a minivan or SUV...I am tempting to go mini...). It should be a decent trip as we won't be staying Glenn's folk's house! Their house is small and the sleeping accommodations are non existent. So we lined up a suite with hotel points. We also got really good fare on our flights. We had to buy 3 tickets now that Ryleigh is old enough. We didn't get a ticket for Evan...because I will be nursing the whole time (aren't I so positive). I have purchased tickets for Ryleigh in the past but I didn't on her first flight (at 9 weeks). Evan will be 11 1/2 weeks for this flight. Hopefully it will go well.
We leave May 21st for the sunshine state!

A break

Ryleigh's been staying at her grandparents (since yesterday) and I thought this would be a great break. She's coming back tomorrow. However, my break has been FULL of feedings. Apparently Evan wanted to hit a growth spurt when Ry was out of town and he knew he would have me to himself. I understand the timing but I just need a little break. A little nap... PLEASE!!!! Wish me luck!

Evan's 1st month

Thursday Evan turned one month! Holy cow how time flies. Here are the stats on our doctor's appointment on Monday...

Weight: 9 lbs 12 oz (50%)... he was 7 lbs 7 oz at 1 one week so he put on some weight!

Height: The first measurement she got was 22 inches (from 19 inches)... the nurse did it again and came up with 21 1/4 inches (25%)

Head: I don't know the exact measurement I just know that it was in the 50% which means his head isn't near the size of his sister's head (hence it took only a couple of pushes to get Evan out!).

The first month has been a whirl. Evan sleeps quite a bit but seems to like being up in the middle of the night more. He is very good and rarely cries. Overall he's a good baby and he tolerates Ryleigh playing doctor with his feet (yup, I won't let her touch his head so I told her the feet were perfect to play doctor with him).

Survival Mode

Okay so I haven't posted in forever. Glenn being home and having a new addition certainly cuts down on my computer time!!! I have been surviving the sleep deprivation. Evan was up till about 2 am last night then every hour on the hour till 7 this morning. The poor guy has diarrhea. We had his 1 month check up yesterday and I suspect he had a reaction to his shot. Poor guy. He is now on the up swing (we hope)!

Ryleigh seems to be adjusting to our new way of life. She spent Monday night at her grandparents. She adores my parents (thank goodness) and loves spending time with them. When my mom packed her up to come home Tuesday, Ryleigh gave her a hug and told her she was going to miss her! It broke my heart when my mom told me. She is growing up to be a sweet girl! I love her and I must admit I miss her too. Yup, all this time I am spending nursing Evan has caused me to miss my firstborn immensely. I try not to think about it too much.. the pre-Evan time but it's hard. I suspect it is because I feel like a garden hose to Evan and I feel I am failing Ryleigh a bit. I am sure in a couple of months I will catch my breath and be able to breathe (I hope)!
