24 Hours and Back

I went to visit my cousin in Kentucky this weekend. I left on Friday shortly after I put Ry down for a nap and returned Saturday shortly after she woke up from her nap. It was a quick trip but a true test for Ry & her dad.

This was the first time that Glenn got to spend 24 hours with his daughter with no one watching over him. It was a real treat from what he told me although he didn't eat much because meals were such a debacle. Ry is learning to self feed with a spoon and it isn't going so well. She doesn't quite have the dexterity but she is persistent about wanting NO HELP. She is great at getting the spoon into her mouth. Her issue is getting the food onto the spoon. G spent most of the meals trying to control the chaos and make sure Ry was getting enough nourishment. His first evening he got some help from his friend Tyler who stopped by after dinner. The rest of the evening went off without a hitch.

The next morning Glenn was hoping Ry would sleep in... she woke up at 7:30 (to me that is sleeping in!). They went to the park in the morning, had lunch and then went to Costco where they did some shopping.

All in all I think it was a successful time for the two of them. Ry didn't even seem to notice me when I returned. I came through the door thinking I would get a big reception from her and all I got was a cheerio from her snack bowl. No hug, no kiss, no running into my arms. A cheerio!
Now it is Glenn's turn to leave. He went to work today and I got Ryleigh all to myself! I took her over to my folks for the day but not before playing beauty shop!

Is that a cloud over my head?

Today was the day for my new couch to arrive. The couch I ordered in December and have had my eye on for a year before ordering. It is something my husband & I have meticulously researched & thought over before pulling the trigger. It was suppose to be the happiest day in my life of furniture purchasing...

It was the wrong damn couch. I ordered a 3 piece sectional. The love seat, wedge (corner piece) and chair. The love seat (longest portion) was suppose to be to my right as I am looking at it and the chair (shorter portion) was to be to my left. I have the opposite. I contacted the furniture folks to chat with them about their mistake and the 2 delays that we've already endured to get the wrong couch. Here is the key, the couch was ordered correctly per the paper work and the ordered couch was sent... the order was wrong. The furniture people wrote the original order wrong. It's their couch and they couldn't figure out whether it was a Left Arm Sectional or a Right Arm Sectional (I wanted the right and received the left). Uggg... I shouldn't be surprised though because this type of thing has been happening my whole life. Little screw ups, the little black cloud as my father calls it.

So now the wrong couch is sitting in my living room till the right couch gets here. I probably won't see it till the fall.

Ry's 16 months

Ry turned 16 months today! It wasn't especially a big day although she did get a treat, a Pepperidge Farm White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookie (minus the nuts & the white chocolate chunks).

We went over to visit Ry's grandparents. It was a nice relaxing day and Ry always has a blast with them. Grandma C is one of her favorite people and she makes no secret about it. She greeted her with a huge hug when the garage door opened and grandma was on the other side. Inside Grandpa was waiting for her to help get her coat off and say hello. From there they played and I just sat on the couch and relaxed. It was nice after spending the week without G home. We ate lunch there and even took naps. We would have stayed the night however daddy is coming home tonight!!!!
I am super excited to see Glenn. It has been 7 long days! Ry will be in heaven tomorrow when she wakes up and sees he's back. We've already planned to go out for a family breakfast to one of my favorite places First Watch. It will be nice to catch up and spend some quality time together this week. I can't wait!

The Great Summit Rant

Oh where do I begin... one day about 2 years ago an old friend of mine contacted me about wanting to have a class reunion. At the time we were 13 years removed from high school. This friend told me he would put everything together and we could do it in a couple of months. I laughed at the idea and told him, "You need time to plan these things. I can help". Those words have haunted me ever since.

I told him I had about 20 email addresses of old classmates and I could email them and see who they kept in touch with, etc, etc. I also explained to my friend that a reunion can't be put together in 2 months (unless you expect no one to come) and who would come to a 13 year reunion. He finally agreed although he wasn't happy with it. I began searching out my old classmates.

Fast forward 6 months. I have found about 40 folks out of a 400+ graduating class. I am pretty pleased since I am just relying on others to give me info. I contact my old friend to let him know my progress and see how he is doing finding folks.

I get silence. Long silence. Oh where or where are you silence. He has gone AWOL. I realize I am left holding the bag. It isn't a very large bag but it is a bag with some expectations. I had a choice to either cut and run or try to be responsible for something I never wanted.

I decide to be an adult and move forward with this project... I figure I can just keep finding people... but time starts passing and I realize that 2007 is creeping up and that 15 years will be standing between me and high school. At this time, another friend steps in and offers to find a location. She gets us settled at the local Country Club and they are quite accommodating (requiring no deposit unless someone expresses an interest). I should rephrase... we have a deposit but it wasn't needed ASAP to secure the date. So I continue on my way finding more folks with a date of May in my head.

Skip to present... I've found over half of my class! Yea! I am pretty proud of myself. I have become quite the little spy relying on county public records to find a large chunk of folks. I have sent out a mailer and emails with all the ticket information. It has been out there for over 3 weeks and there is only 3 weeks left to get your tickets. I have received 6 RSVPs!
These past few months have been stressful and I kept telling myself the more folks I find the better off I am... well I've found a whole heck of a lot but no one wants to go.

WTF!!!! I never hated high school when I was there but I certainly hate it now.

Starting all over

Welcome Back! Yup, I've decided to try this again. I guess I should start with a brief 'who am I' but then once you read that why would you come back??? Okay I will give a few minor details that way anyone who reads this has some background.

I am a stay-at-home mom currently with 1 child and a fantastic husband! Doesn't that make you want to read more?!?!

Stay tuned...
